At the beginning of November, the Senior Infants in St Anne’s National School were presented with ‘mini-12” hurls” by Ardclough GAA, kindly purchased by our sponsor Cliff at Lyons as we start the “Camán Everybody” hurling programme in the school.

In its second year, the programme, originating in Wexford, is now used by Leinster GAA to promote hurling. Each child was given a 12” hurl which Ardclough GAA Club sourced from Maher Handmade Hurls in Enniscorthy.

The children are invited to decorate their hurl and learn the names of the different parts of their hurl. They then play a series of fun games, led by Games Promotion Officer Kelly Perkins, aimed at developing the basic balance and co-ordination skills. The programme aims to foster the Club – School link which is certainly evident here in Ardclough with the generous support of Cliff at Lyons.

The hurls were presented to school principal Mary Manley by Kelly Perkins Kildare GAA GPO and Brian Kelly, secretary of the Hurling Club.

Well done to the senior infants for such beautiful art work on their hurls.
