MINOR HURLING WINNERS
On what was a lovely morning in Hawkfield on Sunday, both Ardclough and Coill Dubh minors served up a brilliant game of hurling that was fiercly contested right to the final whistle.
Coill dubh set the pace with a couple of early points, however Ardclough found their feet with some excellent points from Colm Walsh, Ollie McCarton, Daragh Buggle and a cracking goal from Tom Meally. Ardclough took a 1point lead in at half time.
Coill Dubh started strong in the second half, registering first few scores. But one thing we have learned about our minors, is that they are always up for the battle.
That was started with a long ball into the square, Ardcloughs Sean Buggy kept his eye on it to touch the ball past the coill dubh goalie. Game On!.
With some expertly taken scores on both sides, it was not until Logan Fogarty’s brilliant 21 yard free hit the net, it put Ardclough 6 points up.
Coill Dubh replied the opposite end with a goal and a point to put 2 points in it. Free taker Logan put Ardclough 3 points up from a tight angle. Coill Dubh had one last attempt at goal, which took a super save from Fergal Tully to put it out for a 65. The Ardclough backs stood tall to clear the last few balls and claim a fantastic win!.
