Camán Everybody !

At the beginning of June, the Junior Infants in St Anne’s National School were presented with ‘mini-12” hurls” by Ardclough GAA and our sponsor Cliff at Lyons as we launched the “Camán Everybody” hurling programme in the school.

Originating in Wexford the programme is now used by Leinster GAA to promote hurling. Each child was given a 12” hurl which Ardclough GAA Club sourced from Maher Handmade Hurls in Enniscorthy. The children are invited to decorate their hurl and learn the names of the different parts of their hurl. They then play a series of fun games, led by Games Promotion Officer Kelly Perkins, aimed at developing the basic balance and co-ordination skills. The programme aims to foster the Club – School link which is certainly evident here in Ardclough with the generous support of Cliff at Lyons.

The hurls were presented to school principal Mary Manley by Tristan Jacob representing our sponsor Cliff at Lyons, Noel Burke and Brian Kelly from the Hurling Committee and Kelly Perkins, Kildare GAA GPO.

Check out t Liffey Champion (Saturday, 18th June edition) for a photo of the presentation and well done to the junior infants for such beautiful art work on their hurls.
